Does the zodiac change only apply to those born after 2009/2011?

I am hearing people say that this new zodiac sign change only applies to those who are born after 2009, and then some say after 2011.

Is there a source for this? Thanks.|||About the new zodiacs:

This is not new. It is Sidereal Astrology. Astronomers use the Sidereal zodiac, and Eastern cultures use it also.

Western astrology uses the Tropical zodiac. Your OLD sign (which really isn't) is your Western sign. These NEW signs (which have been around for several thousand years) are the Sidereal signs. Either is accurate and can be used. It is your choice on how you wish to label yourself.

Astrologers have known about all this for years. It is nothing new.

Here is your Western zodiac: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Western_ast鈥?/a>

Here is your Sidereal zodiac: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sidereal_as鈥?/a>

If you want to stay the same sign, follow Western Astrology.

If you want to follow the "new" sign (which isn't but has been around for 100s of years) follow Vedic or Sidereal Astrology.

Nothing has changed except some astronomer wanted to get his name in the media and be famous for something that everyone who studies astrology already knew. Astrologers have been familiar with this concept for years|||The Western Zodiac doesn't follow precession for a reason, its NOT that people didn't know about the shift of the Earth's axis. Western Zodiac follows the seasons (which makes more sense). Even if we tilt due to precession we still go into the Spring/Fall equinoxes and Summer/Winter solstice about the same time every year. So beginning of spring/ spring equinox = beginning of Aries, and so on (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equinox). Think about it, the earth tilts which makes the constellations APPEAR to have shifted which makes the sun APPEAR to have "entered" the constellation at a different time, that's all. The stars are not what is moving it's the earth that is tilting (why would a group of suns shift together in one direction anyway).

The ancients just used the constellations to map where the sun was (and believed that the sun "rose" because they were ignorant of the fact that it's actually the earth rotating) and used to mark the beginning, middle, ending of the seasons. They noticed certain characteristics of people in certain seasons (adding a 13th sign won't change anything about your personality, you were still born near the end of fall). Think of it like certain flowers bloom at certain times.

Also, I think it only applies to people born above the Tropic of Cancer (northern hemisphere) or below the Tropic of Capricorn (southern hemisphere), there is relatively no change of season in between. Also, the equinoxes/solstices are exactly opposite in northern southern hemispere so for example someone born on March 22 would be Aries in the northern hemisphere but is a Libra if born in the southern.|||Your zodiac sign is the same that it always was. Your zodiac sign corresponds to the alignment of the constellation when you were born. That doesn't mean that because all of a sudden the dates changed, YOUR zodiac changed. It's just that from now on, when people are born their zodiac will correspond to these new dates. For example, if the constellation Virgo was the zodiac on the day you were born, that will be it forever. The new dates just correspond to future births (well, 2009-on) because the new alignment of the constellations and rotation of the earth does not affect us.|||I hope everyone reads this:

The so-called "changed zodiac" doesn't apply to the western world. There are two zodiac systems, the tropical and the sidereal. The tropical is connected to the seasons and is most usually used by Westerners, us, while the sidereal is associated with the stars and is used by those in the Eastern world. If you believe is all this and live in the Western world, nothing has changed.

See for yourself|||Baby Girl - they would just print the old and new dates for the zodiac under the sign, something like this :)

Leo

August 10th - September 16th (July 23 -August 21)

Your zodiac sign will stay the same that it always was because your zodiac sign corresponds to the alignment of the constellation when you were born, and because everything is shifting or moving in the universe that is why they have made the new dates :)|||To be honest, nobody can choose who you are. You are who you are. If you were born, lets say, an Aries, you will always be an aries, you have grown up with your zodiac sign and you will keep your zodiac sign and you will die with your zodiac sign. Don't let stupid astrologers facts and estimated guessing make you change who you are. That's my opinion though.

I'm not changing.|||The horoscopes aren't going to change in magazines or newspapers. Your sign has not changed, but people who were born after 2009 now have 13 signs of the zodiac. If you are a virgo, then you would just read the horoscope for "virgo". It's not like there is going to be 2 different pages.

Er'rybody calm down.|||The technical answer is Yes the Zodiac signs have changed but this is nothing new. According to Astronomers the earth's alignment is different from where it was three thousand years ago when the study of astrology began, because of this the Zodiac Signs are different.

Not only have the signs changed but there is now a 13th sign called Ophiuchus (November 29th and December 17th)

Most peoples signs have changed by about a month.

My personal sign changed from an Aquarius to a Capricorn|||Ok. Explain this to me. If its all about how the stars were aligned when you were born and they had this 13th constelation or whatever a long time ago just didn't rediscover it until now, and you are born on December 1st, wouldn't you technically be the 13th one because the stars were aligned with it but we just didn't know it existed until now?|||no , its not for people born from 2009 on. that doesnt make sense... so what are magazines going to have horoscopes on 2 different pages now.. BEFORE 2009 and another one for AFTER? no. thats stupid.

what if i have a baby on my birthday? I am going to be a virgo and her/him be a leo? no. thats stupid too.

I live in canada and you have to be 19 to buy alcohol here.. i was once asked for ID (I am 20 i just look young for my age) and I was asked Whats your sign? what am i going to say? "Virgo" NOPE!! WRONG NO ALCOHOL FOR YOU!

its obv. going to be one or the other.. i dont know who gets to decide this but someone will have too. its NOT going to be both before 2009 and after. too complicating for such a thing that doesnt even matter.|||Please read these sources:

http://danrogayan.wordpress.com/2011/01/14/the-13th-zodiac-sign/|||It's all not true, the zodiac didn't change. My source link explains what happened|||Apparently yes, so now I'm a Capricorn which really sucks. Hopefully the Chinese zodiac will stay the same.|||The Change only applies to those born after the "change" because your zodiac is determined by what you are born under not when you where born

(pre 2009 stays the same)|||http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2011/01/13/no-鈥?/a>|||I don't think so. But ask a scientist they seem to know a lot -_-

***** morons making up the best bullshit.|||Yes, it definitely is true. But only for people born from 2009-2011 so yes, you are right|||I don;t know but I don't even want to believe it's true. If it is I'll be some wierd new sign that sounds retarted.
